Torrent Pharma’s new office is a 15,000 sqft open plan office in one of Mumbai’s most sought-after commercial towers in Dadar. With 270 degree views of the eastern and western waterfront of the city, the new space aims to show the company’s position as one of the leading pharma companies in the country.
The office consists of open plan office space for 120 employees, cabins for the senior management several open and closed shared spaces to interact and collaborate. As part of the brief, the spaces for external visitors and internal personnel have been carefully separated to maintain privacy and security within the office. This has been done through the planning and organisation of spaces rather than creating excess physical barriers, therefore maintaining the openness and vibrance of the office spaces.
The design of the new space attempts to provide a fresh spin to the existing brand image and language of offices. Existing architectural features of the space such as the exposed ribbed concrete ceiling have been retained and new elements have been designed with inspiration from a Japanese style in the use of proportions and materials. This is varied with the use of blue chip terrazzo and feature lighting to contribute to the vivaciousness of the space.
The functional and performative aspects such as reduction of sound levels and maximisation of natural light have been given careful attention in the course of design and specification for the project. The space has a repetitive order in its composition and a methodical structure which creates harmony. This is then offset by subtle breaks in the order to create moments of interest and identification through the space which becomes spaces to gather and share ideas.
