Architecture should have the capability to spark curiosity and conversation, bring people together and to foster interactions. All, Humans does exactly that. All, Humans is a series of 3 permanent installations at the faculty of languages in the Goethe University, Frankfurt. The pieces have built using hard and soft LED screens, hollow steel sections, rods and cables. As the works were conceived to be installed within the school of linguistics, the initial investigation involved a study of the history of languages and the Vai language in particular. Simultaneously language was synonymized with the historic indian ‘shamiana’ or canopy under which people gathered to eat, celebrate, take shelter, dance and sing. The installations tower above human scale and form places of interconnection and interactivity. The pieces spell out the declaration of human rights and state that ‘All, Humans’ are equal and free. The process of sketching and collaging is a useful tool in our design process to quickly test and explore ideas liberated from the precision and restriction of 2d and 3d tools. On Aubert Road, we played with textures and tonal qualities of surfaces within the new kitchen extension, inspired by the richly decorated interiors of the existing house. Using these sketches helped to give shape to initial ideas which then evolved through detailed drawings and selection of materials in line with the sustainability agenda of the project. On-site seeing our project at formwork/shuttering stage. Old shuttering methods such as traditional timber are still used extensively but can be labour-intensive. Newer methods of engineered formwork systems using steel, aluminium, or fibreglass-reinforced plastics feature prefabricated and modular components that are lightweight, reusable, and easy to handle. The choice of method often depends on project requirements, budget, and construction expertise. Other advanced formwork types include Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF), Self-Climbing Formwork Systems and 3D Printed Formwork. Spaces have the ability of generating an energy which we often refer to as the “vibe’ of the space. The manifestation of the vibe of the spaces starts right from the reception area at this office & R&D Centre for CEAT Specialty, and continues through the labs, open office and experience centre. The design language references the warmth of the parent company and the forward looking innovation functions associated with the R&D Centre.
